with us
Help support young people’s well-being by volunteering your time across Base 51’s services. Make a positive change to the young people in our society through the activities and projects we run.
You Can Make a Difference
We couldn’t do what we do without volunteers, and we aim to support and enrich each volunteer with their own personal journey.
Some of our success stories include our volunteers progressing onto paid roles within Base 51’s detached youth work team.
Base 51 also hosts a fantastic recognition event, celebrating the dedication and hard work of its volunteers, ensuring their contributions are acknowledged and appreciated by the wider team.
The Base 51 volunteering programme is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
James’ Story
“I couldn’t have asked for a better charity to volunteer for than Base 51, nor a better group of staff to volunteer with than those that work here. They have been so incredibly supportive and collaborative at every turn. Base 51 is full of passionate, knowledgeable, talented, and interesting people to work with, and I have been able to learn so much about youth work and the administration of a charity from volunteering alongside them.
I can honestly say that, even as a volunteer rather than a service user, being a part of this organisation has changed the course of my life for the better. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have now joined their team as a member of staff, and I look forward to working with them for a long time to come.”
Through our Volunteering programme, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund we were able to offer James mentoring, training, hands on experience and 121 support to build his confidence, learn brand new skills and develop his passions.

“If someone was thinking about coming to Base 51, I’d say that it is a safe space for everyone where you can come and be yourself without the fear of being judged. It’s also a place where tons of support is available.”
