"I am glad that services like this are here to support young people as I did not know where else to go. I have always been helped and supported by Base51 when I am in trouble and I appreciate what they do for me"

"Just having someone to

talk to, it's a safe place. It's good to talk about my problems - talking is different than thinking about them, so you see for yourself what things are like, and I get a response so I'm not overthinking it."

"Counselling sounds weird because we don’t usually talk to strangers about yourself, but that’s what’s good! They don’t have a particular image of you. Being face to face and seeing that someone is understanding and listening helps."

* Trigger Warning * - Understanding Loss

The passing of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has brought about a period of mourning for our country, with many people sadden by her loss.

There has been heavy media coverage and this may be having an impact on you personally, whether your feelings are directly about the Queen, or if you are reminded of personal losses.

Grief can be confusing and overwhelming, so we have put together a free resource download to help you understand the feelings you may experience after a loss and how you can support yourself, please click the button below.

Base 51 will also be holding a wellbeing drop in session on Monday 19th September between 1pm and 5pm, supported by our counselling and wellbeing team offering space for any young people who wish to talk about their feelings and/or experiences around grief and loss. We will be running some activities and there will also be activities and our usual open space facilities available to those who just want a place to relax.

If you feel that you need support or advice sooner please get in touch on 0115 952 5040.
